On January 8, 2021, Amazon devices will begin sharing end use wifi connections. This means your homes wifi connection will be available for use by your neighbors or passers by unless you opt out. Amazon sidewalk is a shared network that is meant to maintain connectivity to its devices such as Ring, Alexa and Echo. It is effectively a shared mesh network that allows a device to borrow your internet connection. To opt out, follow these instructions:

1. Open the Alexa app .
2. Open More and select Settings.
3. Select Account Settings.
4. Select Amazon Sidewalk.
5. Turn Amazon Sidewalk On or Off for your account.
